So... Ironman training has its peaks and valleys, but I'm not sure any of my family or friends that haven't done one really understands just how much there is.... and I definitely miss workouts, shorten them or take them easier. Here is what I'm supposed to be doing next week:
(swim is measured in meters)
Monday:
Run- 45 minutes easy
Swim - warm up: 200 swim, 200 kick, 200 pull, 200 swim
main set: 1500, medium inensity
cool down: 4x50
Tuesday:
Run - 45 minutes easy pace
Bike- 60 minutes road or trainer
Wednesday:
Swim - warm up: 4x75, last 25 in each is backstroke
main set: 3x400
cool down: 150
Thursday:
Run- 90 minutes easy
Friday:
Swim - wu: 400, last 50 in each 100 is kick
ms: 8x100 builds
cd: 6x25
Bike - 45 minutes (with full instruction on how to spend that time)
Saturday:
what's this? a REST day!!!
Sunday:
Bike: 90 minutes
Now, this may not seem like a lot, but it's a repeat of the FIRST of 20 weeks, and the last week in the 'build' phase. It gets tougher after that. Plus, Monday I'm going to a concert and Friday is Philip's birthday. And I do work full time. Let me do some quick math... (I'm a slow swimmer so I average about a minute for each 50 meter...)
Monday: 1:35
Tuesday: 1:45
Wednesday: 00:35
Thursday: 1:30
Friday: 1:15
Sat: REST
Sun: 1:30
So... about 8 hours of actual work out time.. plus travel to and from gym and prep and shower... ugh. That's a lot of time! And this isn't even a peak week!
