bad Saturday!

Totally unrelated to running, racing or sport of any kind. Yesterday was not great. Plain and simple. Here's why:

Saturday morning Philip and I have a couple errands to run. He pulls his car out of the garage to let it warm up. We're standing in the driveway enjoying the beautiful sunshine and uh-oh, his car dies. He ran out of gas! In his own driveway! Luckily my car was there so we just grabbed a gas can and headed out. (And on the way to the gas station, my gas light came on too!). Okay, so that wasn't terrible... keep reading.

A couple friends came over so Philip could replace the fuel filter on her truck. Apparently, unlike his car, this requires being under the truck. So, we're all hanging out in the driveway/garage and chatting and I look up and Phil is on his knees wiping his face. Um, so the line to the filter still had pressure (or something like that) and gas came pouring out onto his face. No safety glasses. He goes running into the kitchen sink and I follow. He rinses his eyes and face for a few minutes and gets out the Dawn soap to clean it off. He looked like he'd been punched twice, dark and red circles around his eyes and his eyes were all bloodshot. I was really worried. The smell of gas coming off him was pretty nauseating and filling the entire house, upstairs and down. Luckily, that all turned out okay, he can still see and it didn't burn his skin or actually hurt him in anyway.

So, we head downtown for a birthday. Yay! We had dinner at Mama's Mexican Kitchen. My first time there- delish! I had an awesome veggie burrito that was HUGE. I had so much leftover that I was looking forward to as leftovers today. WAS looking forward to. Fast forward... after dinner went to Fado's had a great time. Took a cab back to the car... where I see two windows in my car have been smashed and there is a huge chunk of concrete sitting on my seat. The parking curb kind of concrete- about a foot long. Glass was everywhere in the front and back of the car. The food was gone. (DAMMIT) and so was my ashtray insert and the change in it. Probably less than two bucks- mostly pennies. My GPS was still in the glove box, although everything else had been pulled out and thrown around the car. I'm guessing the just didn't see the GPS on the little shelf in the glove box. Even my re-usable grocery bags had been pulled out of the door pockets and opened up. My sunglasses clip on the visor pulled off and broken, but my sunglasses still there. It appears nothing else is missing, just everything out of sorts all over the front and back. Weird. So, I put on a pair of gloves and use those and a grocery bag to try to get enough glass off the seat to drove home. In the front we were sitting on the grocery bags, in the back we pulled up the floor mats and shook them off so they could sit on them. Thank goodness it wasn't raining, but it was a cold ride home. I managed to keep it together and not get too upset and kind of laugh at what happened- mainly because they took my food!!!!

Luckily Philip has a house, with a garage. So he pulled his car out and mine is in there right now. I went to get a better look and take some pictures of the missing windows and all the glass still all over, and dropped and broke my camera! What the heck! Seriously! So, in the last two weeks, I've broken the screen on my blackberry, broken a mirror, had my car broken into and broken my camera. When I realized all this, I finally started crying. I think my mom insisted on buying the extended warranty on my camera for me when I bought it knowing how I drop things. I just hope it's still covered! I ordered a new screen for my blackberry- and hopefully I can fix it myself- so that's only $10. The mirror was a cheap one from Target, but I think it's bringing me bad luck. It's dealing with the car that's going to suck. That car is jinxed. I've had it about four years and I've been rear-ended twice and now broken into.

So, that was our day. Ran out of gas, gas in the face, car broken into, and broke a camera. At least we each had our own theme. And were laughing about it before falling asleep at three this morning!
